From the Heart award

PRESENTED BY APHA
In recognition of outstanding volunteerism through the
AjPHA Presidential Service Project

What is the From the Heart award?

Each year, the From the Heart award will recognize one AjPHA club for their outstanding participation efforts in the current AjPHA Presidential Service Project.

Presented by the American Paint Horse Association, the award will serve as a token of appreciation to AjPHA's young members, recognizing their commitment to community service, humanitarianism and volunteerism. Receiving the award is an honor and is a distinction that the receiving members will be proud to note on scholastic applications.

What will recipients of the From the Heart award receive?

AjPHA President & Markel Insurance will present the award in the arena on Wednesday evening during the Western Pleasure Finals to the recipient club with the From the Heart award, which will be symbolized by a trophy plaque. In addition, the club will receive a $500 cash award, sponsored by Markel Insurance. The recipient team will also be recognized through a nationally distributed press release and an article in the APHA Connection and/or Paint Horse Journal.

What benefits are derived from the From the Heart award?

First and foremost, the From the Heart award will help encourage the members who are participating in the AjPHA Presidential Service Project. In addition, the award will create an opportunity for media exposure, thus publicizing the AjPHA's community service, humanitarian and volunteer efforts. It will create an opportunity for media exposure and recognition for APHA, as well as the organization/community benefiting from the project.

What is the selection process for the From the Heart award?

To be eligible for the award, each participating club will submit an essay by May 15 (postmark entry deadline) describing their efforts in the AjPHA Presidential Service Project. They will support their essay with photos, letters and newspaper articles.

The materials submitted will cover project participation taking place from the last day of the previous World Show (where the current Presidential Service Project is launched) to May 15 of the following year.

The judging panel will be comprised of the AjPHA president, five Youth Committee members and one or more APHA staff members. Selection will be based on the amount of time spent engaged in the project, what the youth learned, and how the community benefited.

If you have any questions about the AjPHA, contact the AjPHA Director of Youth Activities.
